Now through Saturday is the biggest week of the year – National Assisted Living Week! The national observance (which begins each year on National Grandparents Day) honors the individuals served, as well as the individuals who serve, in assisted living and residential care communities across the nation with special activities and events.
Created by NCAL in 1995, NALW this year pays tribute to the close relationships staff and residents form through the theme “Family is Forever.” The theme was inspired by a quote from the famed poet Maya Angelou:
“Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”
